Hi John, just wanted to thank you again for the Tiller Assist. It has really made running my Lund 1875 Pro Guide-90hp Mercury in rough water much more enjoyable. After shoulder surgery I was afraid I would have to give up fishing in a tiller boat. I’m 70 years old and since installing the Tiller Assist I have no problem running across Leech or Mille Lacs in most conditions. My fishing buddies are amazed with how easily I handle my boat since installing it.

The Tiller Assist instills confidence in boat control in a variety of different situations such as backtrolling into a cross-wind or motoring across a rough body of water when unpredictable weather arises.
I know with the Tiller Assist’s well thought out engineering, quality components and unmatched performance it will assist in keeping the occupants of my boat safer!

I added the Tiller Assist last spring to my 18' Lake Assault with a 90HP Suzuki. It came with all the correct hardware to fit my setup and took an hour and half to set up. It works as promised and actually better than I expected. It allows me to make those longer runs without turning my arm to rubber.
Now I never have a second thought about running out to 8 Mile on Mille Lacs or out in the main basin on LOTW or a 10-15 mile up the Rainy in the fall. I also like the feature that locks the motor in position while trailering down the road. I would think any tiller "guy or gal" would would find the Tiller Assist to be an immediate improvement in boat control.

Purchased and installed Tiller Assist on a 2018 Yamaha F90XB / Oquawka plate boat. Have around 150 hours on the boat from this season. Do a lot of trolling with this boat. Trailered to Canada twice in the last year. Home water is the Mississippi river.
Tiller Assist alleviates all torque from the motor regardless of trim setting. Makes long runs, especially in rough water, much easier. Tiller tensioning device prevents motor from making random turns when hand is removed from tiller. Having had previous Yamaha tiller motors, this tensioning device is a vast improvement over factory tensioner. Factory tensioner was always either to loose or too tight (this situation existed on two Yamaha 50’s and one Yamaha 60). Even when it was adjusted properly during a day of fishing it always would tighten or loosen - with Tiller Assist the motor stays put and in proper adjustment.
After trying several locations for the foot switch I decided to mount it where my hand normally rests on longer runs. Simply depress switch with my thumb and I’m set.
When trailering, with the tensioner tightened completely, outboard doesn’t flop around at all. I use a “M-Y Wedge” for motor support and with the motor trimmed up to accommodate it and the Tiller Assist locked, motor stays centered.
I won’t own another boat without this unit.

I run a 2005 1800 ProV with a 90 Mercury. The Tiller Assist is an awesome unit. If you’re running a tiller without this you are working too hard.
Backtrolling in the waves or running in quartering winds has become a breeze. No more loosening or tightening the obsolete mechanical friction.

•Hi John, I'm very pleased with the Tiller Assist. I installed the TA last spring and used it for the past fishing season, I'd say around 30 trips here in Nebraska and Colorado. It performed flawlessly, which is a testament to its superb engineering and durability.
•The learning curve was not lengthy and I started to utilize it right away. My fishing partner helped me install the TA. It took us about an hour.
•The two main things that I realized right away, was it provided me with more control of the motor because of the hydraulic feature to adjust motor feedback and torque with the hydraulic control knob. Secondly, the use of the momentary switch became second nature as advertised and it was fun. Some self-proclaimed hardened "only one way doubters" even smiled. How about that! I used its features for distant runs, back and forward trolling, and lockdown of the motor before going up the ramp (no flop).
•I 'm happy with my TA because when you're 70 you need a little help now and then.

My experience with a Tiller Assist system on my boat has been extremely positive.
With a 90 horse power motor steering torque can be an issue on long runs. With Tiller Assist all the torque is eliminated. Saves your arm for fighting fish instead of your motor.

The Tiller Assist is an awesome product! It eliminates all load at the tiller handle due to engine torque during hole shots and long runs. It has allowed me to comfortably run my tiller boat even with a severely torn rotator cuff.

Tiller Assist has made long hauls across big water incredibly easy and effortless.
The amount of control I gained after installing Tiller Assist has paid for itself over and over again.
I’ll never have another boat without Tiller Assist again!

Tiller Assist is the only way to go if you fish out of a tiller boat. Being able to lock my tiller handle on longer runs and backtrolling is a game-changer. The fit and finish is excellent and I’ve had zero issues with the product.

Tiller Assist has been the best accessory I have added to my 1875 Lund Pro Guide. It has taken all the handle torque out of my 90 horse power Mercury. It also allows me to lock my motor when trailering. This product is top notch all the way around!

One trip in my 2017 Larson FX1850TL with an Evinrude ETEC 90 H.O., and I knew I needed help. I fish big water and make long runs. My arms were killing me battling the waves. At times I felt unsafe, especially when I had to nose down into the waves. The torque of the motor about pulled my arm off!
I went home and picked up a Tiller Assist from John, and I've never looked back. I can make my 30 mile runs across Canadian Lake of the Woods. The tiller assist makes it easy to run even in the big chop. I feel safe and confident that I can get to my fishing spots. I wouldn't have another tiller without the Tiller Assist.
Thanks, John!

We like to troll for big walleye and prior to purchasing our Tiller Assist, the biggest battle was always fighting the motor-flop. It’s no secret that the little stock tensioning devices that come from the factories, on all tiller motors, just don’t do the job right. Thanks to the Tiller Assist, we can now focus more effectively on fighting and landing each and every fish, while our Tiller Assist keeps the boat tracking right where we want it to take us.
Thanks again for the great product and customer support on simple install!

After using the tiller assist for 2 years on my Ranger 618t Ranger 618t with 90HO Evinrude Etec .
I can tell you that the days of a sore arm running across the big Lakes of Minnesota are over
Torque steer is gone even as I'm powering up
To be honest I wouldn't own a tiller boat without a tiller assist.

If you are a Tiller enthusiast like I am, Tiller Assist is a game changer. Being a tournament angler you fish in the best and worst of conditions, running big water all the time. It's simple but effective design helps reduce arm fatigue, shoulder strain while increasing stability and boat control on long runs and rough water. Tiller enthusiasts will immediately see the benefit of Tiller Assist.

After searching for and reviewing all the products available on the market to turn my tiller into the boat I wanted for long distances I came upon the Tiller Assist. Being a little skeptical I needed to make a change as the lock on my motor had broken. I use my boat 3-4 days a week and take several long trips with it each year. So finding something that would relieve the pressure from the tiller handle was essential. On a calm day I am able to trim the motor up enough that little or no resistance is created, however on rough water the boat is simply not able to maintain that position creating pressure back on my arm. It wasn’t a matter of being strong enough to handle the boat, it is anytime we keep our bodies locked into a position for a long period of time we create a strain on our muscular system. A day or two later I would wake up with a stiff neck and tight arm. Some of you reading this will doubt another masculinity, however as age inevitably catches up to you, if you really are an avid boater with a tiller that doesn’t offer assistance, this device can and will become your best friend. While I was skeptical, a new motor runs in the Dept of $10,000 to have a feature that removes the torque from the user.
I installed this device in 30 min after talking to John, then spent a little time on the water finding the best mounting position for the switch. It has made all the difference in the world. It was a bonus that you can lock the motor down while trailering as well.
Thank You John, this invention has made my boating experience much more enjoyable.
